Poetry Corner

What do you do when your heart bleeds?
When pain is engraved in your every cell,
When you know you just cannot feel,
And you become just an empty shell

What do you do when the lights come off?
When you realize those scars are still there,
When all around you becomes darkness,
And you pretend that you are not scared

What do you do when you can’t go on?
It hurts too much to make the next move
When your pride is nothing but gone,
All you know that there’s nothing to prove

...

I have always wondered why is it so hard to let go of your pride, why is it so hard to let some things go for the greater good. What if you have spent all of your life letting things go? Then you need more than that. You just can’t take it anymore, you need to be understood. You need that the person that should love you unconditionally actually does so. You need that that person understands that there shouldn’t be a standard when it comes to showing how you feel.

It hurts to realize that you will never fit those standards that, the person that should be by your side no matter what, can’t let them go. You realize then that it has been almost three months since you two last spoken. You realize that you haven’t seen that person online on messenger or Skype anymore. It hurts to feel you have been cut from someone’s life. Then you realize that all that will only change if you apologize, but you feel that you have nothing to apologize for. You can only be who you are and trying to fit in someone else’s expectations of you is downright stupid and fruitless. You realize that maybe things will never change, once you realize they have not evolved for the last 25 years.

All that you went through is seen as irrelevant, your feelings about it all are simply ignored. You realize that you have spent your whole life trying to fit yourself in this completely different mold than who you really are. You realize that the person that should always be in your life can’t really accept the real you.

What do you do? Do you move on and let it all go? Can you actually move on from it? What happens every time you see a movie that portraits a relationship similar to yours? You cry your heart out and wish things were different than they actually are.

It has been three months and you can’t see any light at the end of the tunnel. Do you keep walking or do you just turn around and go home? Is it really pride holding you back or are those scars not completely healed?

Lala in TV Land - Episode 01

Welcome to the first installment of my TV column.

- Every week I am going to bring you my opinion on the best TV shows of the week. To organize things a bit, I will separate the shows into "Newbies" and "Oldies" in the order they aired during the week (The "Oldies" being the ones that are simply returning from previous seasons)...

ENJOY!

Newbies

True Blood is only getting better and better in my opinion. After a very weird premiere, I really thought I would hate it. However, every week the shoe keeps surprising me in a good way. Thanks to Allan Ball (creator of “Six feet under”) for presenting us with one of the best new shows on TV.

On this new episode we got to witness how Bill became a vampire on a very moving flashback. I loved seeing him win over the towns people during the historical meeting. And Jason will never change hehe.

Valentine premiered this week on the CW network. I was quite pleasantly surprised with the premise and the plot of the show.

It is a cute show that shows a family of “Gods” on mount Olympus that have to bring together soul mates. They have been having some problems with the concept of love, so they bring aboard a romance novelist to help them out. It was nice seeing some familiar faces.

After last week’s episode of 90210, I had decided to give up on it. This week was its last chance. This week’s episode changed that. It wasn’t an amazing episode, but it was definitely an improvement.

Of course, Annie is still annoying as hell. But Adriana’s and Naomi’s friendship/Drama was very nice. The new girl was fun, though the twist about her in the end was sort of stupid. I thought that finally a student was going to hook up with the hot teacher Ryan, damn it hehe. I just hope they get better; otherwise, I’m done with it.

Privileged is my favorite new CW show. Great writing and acting, which is more than I can say for a lot of shows out there. It is not a show that plans to change the world, but it does its job inn entertaining us.

This week episode showed us different kinds of friendship and sister/sister relationships. I love the shows sense of humor and I just hope it keeps it up. Only thing that bothers me, Three hot guys into Megan? That’s too much… lol.

The ex-list is only on its second episode and I already love love this show. The main actress does such an amazing job and her character is so sweet that you can’t help but fall in love with her.

Bella starts seeing another ex and it does not go well again. It’s sooooo obvious she belongs with her most recent ex and I am dying to see how they get there.

Oldies

I just love The Big Bang Theory and this new season has been very entertaining and soooo funny. Sheldon has been stealing the show from everybody else.

Watching Penny become addicted to an online game was hilarious and of course, when she was about to go on a virtual date with the nerdest (is that even a word? Hehe) of nerds she finally came to her senses lol.

My favorite comedy out there came back to its fourth season with a great episode. The second episode wasn’t the best and this week’s third ep wasn’t amazing, but it was definitely very funny.

I always say that Barney steals the show and that is so true. Neil Patrick Harris needs to get recognition for this amazing character soon. The episode took place mostly in New Jersey, where Stella lives. Big life changing decisions in the end of this episode, I just can’t wait to see how it pans out. Marshall proclaiming his love for New Jersey was awesome :)

Chuck came back this season better than ever. Finally Chuck stopped getting saved to do some saving in this episode. We can see the character's development so clearly. He is finally becoming an agent and that'sso cool. This show doesn't take itself too seriously and that is its secret weapon.

Two great guests on this episode, Melinda Clarck and John Larroquete. Both guests brought great things to the show and a lot of fun. Chuck and Sarah finally coming to terms with their feelings and then Bryce shows up in the end? Damn it, not a chance in hell I'm going to miss the next episode :)

I just love how whimsical Pushing Daisies is, its colours and photography are brilliant. Ned and Chuck are my favorite couple ever and sadly they can never be together :(

So sad to see Ned suffering with Chuck's moving out, but they find a way to cope and their new morning game is extremelly cute. Olive telling all her secrets to the pig was hilarious :)

Shows watched but not commented: Kath and Kim, Life on mars, Merlin, Desperate Housewives, Brothers and Sisters, Heroes, The office and Ugly Betty.

MVP (Most Valuable Player): Chuck

To be Continued...

Lala's Hot Tips - Episode 01

Welcome to the first instalment of my Tips column.
- Every week I am going to share with you cool new stuff I have found around. Cool Websites, Videos, New Music and Much More... Enjoy!

I am a big parody fan. For that reason, my first tip is a parody of A-ha's hit "Take on me". Where the creator re-wrote the song and the new lyrics describe pretty well what the heck is going on in the video... lol.

Enjoy:

I give 3 handcuffs out of 5 to this one :)

My second tip is a webseries called "The Guild". I found out about it because they won the youtube awards last year and their second season is coming up very soon. If you are a geek like me and if you are into online games, I bet you'll get a kick out of it.

This the first episode of the first season:

you can find the other episodes of the first season at their youtube channel, HERE.

For more info you can go to their website HERE.

I give them 4 handcuffs out of 5 :)

Ps: The creator and leading lady of The Guild is Felicia Day... She also starts opposite Neil Patrick Harris (How I met your mother) and Nathan Fillion (Firefly and Serenity) on the webmovie called: "Dr. Horrible's Sing-a-long blog" created by Firefly's and Buffy's creator Joss Whedon... More on it next week :)

Drink Up...

Firstly, Im sorry for the belated friday post... but it's better late than never, right??

I spent all day feeling like shit... I drank too much last night and I am still a bit hung over...

I wonder, why do we drink ourselves silly like that? I mean, I like beer and that's why I drink... but why can't we just stop before it gets bad... Damn it, I really hate when I do that :(

Oh well, I don't have much to say... so I'm taking off now...

I'll be back later for my new saturday column... Stay Tuned :)

Lala in Movie Land - Episode 01

Welcome to our first installment of my brand new movie column :)
I will be talking about a diferent movie and/or movie news every Thursday... So stay Tuned...

Deception was released April this year with not much ado... Directed by Newcomer Marcel Langenegger and Written by fairly unknown Mark Bomback, the movie only caught my attention because of its leading actors...

The main cast is formed by Hugh Jackman (X-men, The Prestige) , Ewan McGregor (Trainspoting, Molin Rouge) and Michelle Williams (Dawson's Creek, Brokeback Mountain).

When I saw the Trailer a little while back I was immediately drawn to it... It seemed to be sexy and thought intriguing... How could I be so mistaken...

Michelle Williams doesn't convince as a leading lady, a vixen for whom Ewan's character falls in love at first site... The whole thing is too forced and hard to believe...

Don't get me wrong, she looks great... However I do believe that Natasha Henstridge, who plays a much smaller role in the movie, could have carried the leading lady role much better...

As much as I love Ewan Mcgregor, I have a hard time getting convinced by his portrait of the shy accountant... He tries too hard and that it's his downfall...

Hugh is a great actor and his portrait of the "deceiver" is this feature is not bad... but just as Ewan's performance, Hugh seems to be trying to hard and it just does not work out...

The whole movie seems to underestimate the audience... it has the potential to give us a couple of very interesting twists and turns throughout the movie... but the constant "tips" given during the story, ruins it all... and it gave me the impression that the director thought we wouldn’t be able to catch them and, that he felt he had to make it too clear...

I just felt that they thought I was stupid... and I really don't like that...

All in all I'm going to give it... One Orange Handcuff out of five...

More Changes and some Politics...

Well, since I decided to add new features to the blog... Why not a new design??? Hope you guys like it... Tomorrow I'm coming up with the first instalment of my movie column... I hope you guys like it :)

and as for this post... I have talked about the election a couple posts ago... I don't know anything about politics and to be quite honest I don't want to know... I absolutely hate it...

One thing that has made this US election interesting to me... Is Sarah Palin... To put it more accurately, Tina Fey's Impression of Palin... Tina Fey is am amazing writer and actress and this impression of the Republican VP candidate is so spot on and amazingly accurate that it is impossible not to laugh when you see it...

On the three of the last four episodes of the new season of Saturday Night Live... Tina has given us the gift of geniality, by playing Palin on the opening segment...

Here are a couple videos of it:

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler as Palin and Clinton

Tina Fey and Amy poehler as Palin and Couric

And if you have trouble believing Palin is that hmmmmmmmm "dense"? ehehheh here is a split screen video of Palin and Tina as Palin:

Besides that, news outlets everywhere are talking about the possibility of Palin making an appearance on SNL playing Tina Fey... hahahahhahhahaahhahahahahahah

That sounds like something no one can miss... I mean, just seeing Palin on TV being herself is already pure comedy... let alone her "trying" to be someone else...

Let's hope the TV gods grace us with this amazing gift :)

Attention, Attention Please...

I have decided it's reinvention time... no, I’m not gonna change the blog... but I have decided to add weekly columns to it... This is something I have been thinking about for a while and really struggling with... because I love this blog, it is my dear baby and I don't want to change the essence of it...

However, I do believe in reinvention and that some changes can be good to stir things up a bit...
Sooooooo I have come up with three weekly columns to start... They are:

Lala in Movie Land - Every Thursday
- One movie that I recently have watched every week

Lala's Hot Tips - Every Saturday
- Music, Books, Gadgets, Softwares and so on...

Lala in TV Land - Every Sunday
- Every week I will share with you the tv shows that marked my week and comment their episodes...

That is it for now... if you have any ideas for columns I should keep and make regular... leave it in the comments...

As for the rest of the week... I will continue with regular postings and I add to my recent self-made challenge of posting every day for a week...

I am going to post everyday for the next month...

Stay Tuned :)

Gimme More?!?

It's no secret that everyone has an addiction... Whatever it may be, some addictions are definitely more serious than others...

Being addicted to Drugs, Alcohol, Sex, Work and so on... Usually lead to awful consequences and the fight against them is far from easy...

I feel sometimes that people (me included) can throw around the word "addiction" too much and there is a huge danger to that... the danger of minimizing what it is to be an addict...

I have more than one occasion called myself a TV show addict... and as I was writing my next sentence just now, where I stated that I could go on not watching my favorite shows... I just realized that I can't... I mean... if for some reason I wasn't able to download them, I would hunt down some way to get them... That is sort of a scary realization to me... they are just TV shows and even though right now, I am following over 20 of them... There are a few that I couldn't stop watching for anything in this world...

Recently, while talking to a friend... He stated that addiction is not a disease... and to be quite honest, that statement pissed me off horribly... and it offended me personally, since my grandfather was an alcoholic... we went on this discussion that gradually just made me more and more irritated, specially when he said addiction is a choice...

I believe we chose to indulge ourselves... but we become addicts when we just can't control it anymore... I usually describe the difference between and addict and someone that is not one, by saying that and addict needs the object of his/her addiction... whilst a non addict, doesn't have that need...

I think I had more to say but I'm not even sure anymore... the realization I just made while writing this post is freaking me out... I mean, I'm not going to stop downloading the shows I love... but I don't stop my life for it... I go out, have fun... when I'm home and doing nothing I sit and watch my shows... Should I be worried?? I am actually questioning that as I write here...

Well, since I came to realize this I will be sure to not let it rule me and keep my eye open I guess... I am honestly confused right now lol... I don't even know how to end the post...

Doing your part...

There is a new PSA going around the web to urge people to register and vote in the next US elections... Granted, I have nothing to do with the US elections... but this Sunday is also elections in Brazil...

Voting is a part of being a citizen and should not be taken for granted... sometimes we think: "one vote is not going to make a difference"... but if everyone thought like that it would be terrible...

Don't vote just for the sake of it... Vote because you care what happens to you country, your society... be a citizen and show you care...

The PSA is really cool... full of celebrities... they use humor to get their message across...
Pay attention to the "FRIENDS" joke... it's AWESOME...

Celebrities on the video:

Amy Adams, will.i.am, Jennifer Aniston, Kevin Bacon, Halle Berry, Kate Bosworth, Kevin Connolly, Courteney Cox, Ellen DeGeneres, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jamie Foxx, Jonah Hill, Dustin Hoffman, Anthony Kiedis, Ashton Kutcher, Adam Levine, Laura Linney, Eva Longoria, Tobey Maguire, Demi Moore, Natalie Portman, Giovanni Ribisi, Ethan Suplee, Kyra Sedgwick, Michelle Trachtenberg, Usher, Forest Whitaker and Djimon Hounsou.

Another cool election related video is a scene from the new season of The Simpsons... Where Homer tries to vote for Barack Obama and the machine only computes votes for John McCain...

Hilarious:

WTF?!? 2 - The Ressurection

Seriously... I totally deserve this lol...

I went to the bar with the girls tonight and who is there, again?? The same guy from my last post... He passes two times through me and again, pretends to not know me... who cares, right??

However, later on... I’m outside with a friend chatting and he comes to talk to me... says hi and the most hilarious sentence comes out of his mouth: "Oh, I just realized I haven't spoken to you in two weeks"

Really?? Seriously??? Are you F*ckin' kidding me???

Oh My Dear G-d... Dudes, get a grip... If you are gonna act as a douchbag, keep the act up... don't pull a stupid stunt like this...

Best part was... he is working in a kiosk next door now... So, I go in to buy cigarettes for my friend and he just can't give me the right change... OMG... Freakin' HILARIOUS...

Soundtrack of the post:

The beach boys - Wouldn't it be nice

WTF?!?

Blah... I really can't understand people... It amazes me the sort of behavior some have... This has happened to me a few times and every single one of them pissed me off...

There I was at a bar with my friend last night and suddenly, I see this guy I went out with a couple times a few weeks ago... The guy simply pretends he doesn't see me... That for me is so idiotic... How can people act like that... Does he think that if he talks to me, he'll have to marry me or something?? WTF!?!? I really, really don't understand that... It's not even like I wanna talk to him or something... I really don't care about HIM... but that kind of behavior is sooooo stupid... I'm good enough to make out, but no... G-d forbids we exchange pleasantries...

Well, I don't have much to say... I have a headache right now and I'm starving...

See ya tomorrow :)

Put The Record On...

I can't express how important music has been in my life... Most experiences, situations and periods of it were stamped with a number of different songs...

When I feel down and I want to cry, I know exactly what songs to put on to get me where I need... Going out always requires some up beat tunes to get me in the mood...

I have a song with practically every person in my life... with some people, even more (right Moischa?? hehe)... Just the first couple notes of one of these songs, can take me back to the moments I shared with those special friends...

A little while ago, on my daily blog raid (I read a bunch of blogs about TV shows... lol don't judge me hehe)... I came across a list that I found to be very interesting... "The soundtrack of my life"... with songs marking important moments... That is something I think about a lot and I didn't think twice before start planning it...

I translated the list (it was in Portuguese) and I made a few additions to it...

It was almost impossible to confine myself to one song per moment... so I put more than one in a few of them... and I also tryed to not repeat artists hehe

Here we go...

There is nothing to fear...?!?!

I remember the last time I walked around the streets of Copacabana in Rio de Janeiro... It was my last visit to the Sochnut (Jewish Agency) before my alyiah... I was born in Rio and I was supposed to be used to it... but I wasn't... I felt so self conscious walking around there, so scared... it was such an awful feeling...

A little while later I realized it wasn't just there... even in the small city I had been living, I felt too uncomfortable walking around the streets on my own... granted that it was not as bad as in Copacabana, but even so...

Now, I am here... I'm in Tel Aviv, such an European city... but still here, in the middle east... I am not scared... I can walk alone at 4am and I am not scared... I feel safe here and I appreciate that feeling... That is one of the many reasons I love living in Israel...

Don't get me wrong, I have had a couple creepy situations involving cab drivers that could have scared me a lot... once a driver simply asked for a kiss when we got to my house, another kept asking me out during the whole ride... during the most recent experience, the driver kept asking me to come over to his house to cook for him... lol... I laugh at those stories now... but while they were happening, they were quite scary...

Fear is an amazing thing; it can keep us from living... I could say I’m traumatized and never get into a cab alone again... but, so what??? Life is supposed to be scary... I can get out of my house tomorrow and get hit by a car, can't I??? What's the point of living if you don't take chances???

Of course, getting back on a horse after a fall is terrifying... but being on that horse once more, and succeeding at it... Is amazing... you can never know that feeling if you don't try...
