I love a good, light historical romance. They usually combine angst, wit, sexual tension, and enlightenment that I find to be a fun mix. This book hit all the marks. I especially like that because Dorian thought he was dying of the same ailment his mother suffered and because he grew up railing against the expectations of his grandfather and society, in general, he easily accepted that Gwen wasn't some push-over society girl playing games to win a husband. No, instead she was straightforward about wanting to marry Dorian. And I think he kind of had to respect that about her because he was in no mood to play games at all!
Lucky for Gwen her husband-to-be was gorgeous and made her feel things that were unfamiliar to her in a sexy way. I could see it was going to be a real struggle for her to have to bed him and have his heir. ;-) But the feelings that developed between both of them were real and totally expected as they shared their secrets with each other and gained the trust necessary to build that love.
I'm so glad that Dorian came to appreciate Gwen's intelligence and that she was able to help Dorian with his ailment. Especially since everything had a complete happy ending!!
