Such a cute story about a coming-of-age for young Delilah. She has a special power to be able to attract dust and keep the house clean for the people she works for. At the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fenchurch-Whittington, Delilah has fallen in love with their son Charlie whom she thought might also have feelings for her. Until one day he leaves only to return with his new bride. Distraught to find that Charlie doesn't love her, she falls into a depression and her magic cleaning skills quickly disappear to the point that whatever she touches ends up with more dust than before. She is asked to leave the house.
Delilah's depression carries on for a few years until she ventures out to the park and meets a new friend and her son. Delilah immediately recognizes the woman as Charlie's wife but says nothing about remembering her. They start to build a friendship and slowly Delilah comes to see that her feelings for Charlie were merely a young girl's crush but her friendship with his wife Abi is a bright spot in her life. They finally admit to each other that they recognize each other from that fateful first day that Charlie brought home his new bride.
Delilah and Abi start a successful cleaning business and because she is happy again her magic is working wonders.
Delilah meets a young tradesman who repairs vacuums. They begin a relationship and Delilah realizes that she had the power to be successful because she was happy with herself. They are invited to Christmas with the Fenchurch-Whittington's who welcome Delilah back to their home.
This was such a great story for this young woman who realizes that it is within her to make the most with her gifts and talents and that she can find friendship and love if she is open to making these relationships.
