I love vampire romances and had high hopes for this book but I will admit the POV threw me off. It just seemed a little disconnected but once I got over it I enjoyed the rest of the story.
Ellie is looking to get over a previously abusive relationship and agrees to go with some friends from the office to a new vampire bar. Vampires have come out the human world so naturally, the new, fun thing to do is to go check them out. But on the night Ellie is ready to go, her friends have all ditched her so she resolves to go alone. Conveniently, her boss Ian Lochlan happens to also be going to the bar and escorts her. Of course, he's gorgeous and she can't say no due to her attraction to him.
At the bar, she finds out that he is part-owner and also a vampire. Ian explains to her the basics of the vampire bar and has an attraction of his own to Ellie that he is finally beginning to pursue. He feels a pull to her that she may be his Hunger Mate. His friend Jasper also finds Ellie intriguing but doesn't immediately do anything about it. After Ellie and Ian get somewhat involved, Ellie finds out more about being a Hunger Mate and delves into her new relationship with Ian.
Unfortunately, a turn of events has Ian hurting Ellie and Jasper has to step in and bring her into the vampire fold or leave her to die. Ellie decides to accept the transformation and becomes Jasper's Hunger Mate instead.
There was just enough sex to make this a steamy read and for a while I thought there might be some menage action but it stayed light. I liked that the vampire world was not as complicated as we've come to believe over the years so that it was easy to get into the story. The book also left just enough to get us into the next story. The characters weren't deeply developed so it was easy to get into the story without having to read on and on about their backgrounds so we could get to the good stuff!
